Terms

Last updated: October 2026.

These terms apply when you buy from Tales We Tell, which is run by Botanica Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16286523), whose registered office is at Unit 95-96 Kingspark Business Centre, 152-178 Kingston Road, New Malden, KT3 3ST, United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@taleswetell.store.

Your order

When you place an order, you’re offering to buy the book you’ve made. A contract is formed when we email you to confirm your order. We may decline an order, for example if we can’t produce it or a payment fails, and if we do we’ll refund anything you’ve paid.

Prices are shown in pounds in our UK shop and dollars in our US shop, and UK prices include VAT. We don’t currently charge US sales tax; if that changes, any tax will be shown at checkout before you pay. Delivery costs are always shown before you pay.

Discount codes have their own conditions, shown with the code.

What you share with us

You confirm that you have the right to share the photos, names and words you give us, and that they don’t infringe anyone else’s rights or break the law. If you share photos of a child who isn’t yours, please make sure their parent or guardian is happy for you to do so.

You keep ownership of your photos and words. You give us permission to use them only to make, print and deliver your book and to support your order. We won’t use them for anything else, including marketing, without asking you first.

We may decline to make a book with content we think is offensive, unlawful or harmful.

Previews and approval

If you choose a digital preview, we’ll email it to you before we print, and we print only once you approve it. Any changes you ask for move the delivery date back. Please check names, dates and spelling carefully: once you’ve approved a preview, the book is made exactly as shown.

Our illustrations are made from your photos by our team, using AI image-generation tools with a person directing and reviewing every page. They’re a likeness in our style rather than a photographic copy.

Delivery

Delivery times are estimates, shown on our Delivery page and at checkout. They’re counted in working days and can be longer at busy times. The book is your responsibility once it’s delivered.

Cancellations and returns

Because every book is personalised and made to order, the usual 14-day right to cancel doesn’t apply once we’ve started making it.

Every book is made just for them, so we can’t take returns for a change of mind. If it arrives faulty or damaged, contact us within 14 days of receiving it and we’ll put it right. If your order hasn’t arrived within 30 days of buying it, you can cancel for late delivery: just reply to your order confirmation email.

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights, including your right to a book that’s as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.

Our responsibility to you

If we don’t meet these terms, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result of our breaking them, but not for loss or damage that wasn’t foreseeable. Our total liability for an order is limited to the amount you paid for it, except where the law doesn’t allow us to limit it, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Our books are keepsakes, not toys. Please keep them away from very young children who might chew them.

Everything else

Everything on this site, including our illustrations, characters and words, belongs to us or our licensors. Please don’t copy it without permission.

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one shown when you placed it.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, or outside the UK, you keep any protections the law where you live gives you, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
